Livestock Farm Complex

The Department of Livestock Farm Complex was established in October 2019 in the College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul, Bathinda. It is a new veterinary college under Guru Angad Dev University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Ludhiana. The department has well equipped laboratories and farms to carry out the undergraduate teaching and training programs effectively.

Brief Introduction :

Dr. Yashwant Singh did his B.V.Sc & A.H, M.V.Sc (LPM) and Ph.D (LPM) from CCS, Haryana Agriculture University, Hisar in the year 1994, 1996 and 2000 respectively. He was awarded University merit scholarship during M.V.Sc and also awarded Senior Research Fellowship by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi during his Ph.D programme. He qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by ASRB, New Delhi in the subject of LPM and Animal Nutrition. He had been involved in various extracurricular activities and got University merit certificate for outstanding performance in handball and B certificate in NCC. He has served various organizations since 1998 as Assistant Professor of LPM at College of Veterinary Science, DUVASU Mathura from December 1998 to March 2006 followed by Associate Professor and Head, Division of Livestock Production Management at Faculty of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, R.S. Pura, SKUAST-J from 2006 to 2008, as Animal Scientist at Veterinary Polytechnic and Regional Research & Training Centre, Kaljharani, Bathinda under GADVASU from September 2008 to August, 2015 and also discharged responsibility of Principal, Veterinary Polytechnic, Kaljharani and Incharge, Regional Research and Training Centre, Kaljharani (Bathinda). Thereafter he rendered his services as Deputy Director (Training) Krishi Vigyan Kendra, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) from September 2015 to October 2020. He has been actively involved in teaching of various courses of LPM and has guided one M.V.Sc. student. He has in his credit more than 100 publications including research papers, reviews, technical and popular articles in Journals of National and international reputes. He has also authored four laboratory manuals on animal management. He worked as PI & Co-PI in various projects funded by various government agencies. He was actively involved in characterization and registration of Kajali sheep native to Punjab state. He is member of many national scientific societies in the field of animal production. Presently he is serving the University as Professor and Head, Department of Livestock Farm Complex, College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul since 21st October 2020.

After completing my master’s degree with specialization in veterinary pathology. I wish to utilize my professional knowledge to teach students with all courses of pathology viz. General pathology, Avian pathology, Clinical pathology, Oncology, Special pathology and Systematic pathology.

  • My area of research interest is in clinical pathology, Gross pathology, poultry pathology, experimental pathology and diagnostic pathology by using different diagnostic techniques viz. PCR, ELISA, Fluorescent antibody testing, Immunohistochemistry and Histopathology.
