Department of Livestock Products Technology at College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul was established in year 2021. The Department has the mandate of teaching, research and extension activities in the area of Livestock Products Technology. Currently, the Department offers various courses to undergraduate students of BVSc & AH and Diploma in Vet. Science & Animal Health Technology.

Teaching appointments

  • I have a profound interest in teaching livestock products technology, driven by a passion for sustainable agriculture and the crucial role livestock plays in global food systems. This field merges my enthusiasm for education with the practical application of scientific principles in animal products processing, functional meat products, egg products and milk products and their quality evaluation. Extraction of plant extracts and their evaluation for quality parameters such as antimicrobial and antioxidant etc.

Area of research

  • Engaged in the various activities of Deptt. such as entrepreneurship training programme for farmers, and prepared various emulsion-based meat products for teaching purpose.

Livestock Products Technology

The Department is actively engaged in different extension activities such as dissemination of knowledge about the entrepreneurship opportunities in the value addition of livestock products (meat, milk and eggs). Faculty members of the Department are delivering the lectures in different training programmes organised by the Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education/KVK’s etc. The Department also have the basic infrastructure, manpower and other facilities for organising the training/entrepreneurship development programmes.  The Department has organised free milk adulteration testing camp for the farmers of Malwa region of Punjab.

Department have well equipped dairy technology and meat technology laboratories. Department also have the facilities of small scale poultry slaughtering, detection of milk adulteration, processing of milk and meat into different value added products and their quality evaluation.
