Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology

  • The Department of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology was established in the year 2021 under the umbrella of the College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul. The department imparts teaching, research and extension activities in the discipline of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology. Currently, the department offers a 4+1 credit hour course to the B.V.Sc. & A.H. students during the third professional of the degree programme as per MSVE-2016 regulations. The department additionally provides a 2+1 credit course to the second-semester student of the D.V.S. & A.H.T. programme. Presently, the department has three highly qualified young and dynamic teaching faculty to impart high standards of education to undergraduate students. The aim and objective of pharmacology and toxicology teaching is to prepare students to have competency with the present knowledge and skills to understand how drugs and chemicals interact with biological systems and to identify and  manage the risks associated with them.
  • The department is actively engaged in different extension activities such as the dissemination of technical knowledge about toxicities and drugs and entrepreneurship opportunities in the field of pharmacology and pharmaceutics. The department provides services to the farmers by facilitating the testing facility for toxicological sample analysis of clinical and non-clinical origin. The department imparts technical guidance to the farmers regarding livestock poisoning and their management and also engage in organizing training for the field vets and farmers.
