Veterinary Anatomy

The department is primarily engaged in the undergraduate and post postgraduate teaching in the field of Veterinary Anatomy and Histology. Apart from it the department is carrying out basic and applied research work on gross anatomy, histology, histochemistry, histoenzymology, immunohistochemistry and ultrastructre of the various organs/systems of domestic animals and birds.

Goals

  • To provide information on the gross anatomical, histomorphological, histochemical, immunohistochemical and ultrastructural aspects of the domestic animals in general and those of buffalo in particular so that the knowledge is availed for its application in the clinical/production and reproduction and other disciplines.
  • To provide qualified human resource in the field of Veterinary Anatomy, Histology and Embryology.

Thrust Area

  • Morphological Study of organs/systems of different domestic animals and birds using histomorphochemical, ultrastructural and immunohistochemical techniques.
  • Developmental Anatomy: Histogenesis and organogenesis of various organs/systems of domestic animals.
  • Reproductive Anatomy: Light and electron microscopic studies on the male and female reproductive system of buffalo in relation to different stages of reproduction and seasons.
  • Forensic Anatomy: Identification of different species on the basis of various anatomical aspects to be used in Forensic science.
